There are already many false prophets out there. Jesus warned us they would be coming. Many of these prophets will say things that sound very, very good so we must test every person that teaches doctrines. This is a simple two stage test to apply to every prophet or teacher:
- Can they cast out demons?
- If yes, are they getting spiritually or physically attacked by demons?
Don’t rely on our discernment or what we feel about someone or about scripture. Rely 100% on the word of God, which is to apply the tests in the bible. Even when Eve was perfect in the garden of Eden, her discernment or feelings were wrong:
Genesis 3:6 King James Version (KJV)
6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
If Eve, in the state of perfection, can make this error we are all vulnerable to the danger of discernment or thinking we know better. We go humbly by the word of God 100%.
- Don’t rely on our discernment of a person or scripture
- Don’t rely on what we hear or reputations
- Do rely on seeing with your own two eyes the demonstration of the Spirit and the power
- Check to see the person is being spiritually attacked – indicates they have a hole in their armour somewhere
- If you are a deliverance minister that is experiencing attacks, such as, sleep paralysis, seeing demons, fear, depression, voices talking to you or are getting beaten up regularly. Please seek the Lord before proceeding further.
Our faith is based on demonstration of the Spirit and power, not the nice things that we hear being preached. If there is no demonstration of the Spirit and of power, we can ignore what is taught by that person. Not everyone who calls themselves a prophet, pastor or teacher is who they say they are.
1 Corinthians 2:4-5 King James Version (KJV)
4 And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:
5 That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.
The Lord works with believers and confirms the word with signs following.
Mark 16:17-20 King James Version (KJV)
17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
19 So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God.
20 And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.
Satan cannot cast out satan:
Matthew 12:25-26 King James Version (KJV)
25 And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand:
26 And if Satan cast out Satan, he is divided against himself; how shall then his kingdom stand?
People who use the name of Jesus without knowing Jesus will tend to get severely wounded:
Acts 19:14-16 King James Version (KJV)
14 And there were seven sons of one Sceva, a Jew, and chief of the priests, which did so.
15 And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye?
16 And the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, and overcame them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.
Jesus promises us that we will not get hurt by any means, which means we should not be getting physically or spiritually attacked by demons:
Luke 10:19 King James Version (KJV)
19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
If we keep ourselves from sin, the wicked one cannot touch us:
1 John 5:18 King James Version (KJV)
18 We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.
Case Study 1
Teachers running ministries who teach a lot but we cannot find any videos of them casting out demons. Please avoid. In fact, if they are not regularly casting out demons from people, something is not right because Jesus, Philip, Paul and the other Apostles were regularly casting out demons. Teachers falling into this category include: Joel Osteen, Rick Warren, Joseph Prince, Joyce Meyer, TD Jakes, Creflo Dollar, The Pope, Bill Johnson, Brian Houston, John Hagee, Jonathan Cahn, Kenneth Copeland, Kenneth Hagin, Steve Anderson, Carl Lentz, Benny Hinn, Rob Bell and others. With Benny Hinn, you can see that he paralyses people on stage but you never see the shrieking, vomiting, coughing, yawning and release of real deliverances.
Case Study 2
Husband and wife deliverance team who regularly casts out demons but appear to be under spiritual attack themselves. They have also reported being bitten and assaulted by the people they are delivering. Other warning signs include observing the Sabbath and other religious practices involved with observing the law.
Case study 3
Deliverance minister who takes days, weeks and months to cast demons out of people. He does not discern that many of the false teachers in Case Study 1 above are false teachers. Also, he is under spiritual attack and can see and hear spirits regularly. There does not appear to be the joy of God in him.
If a person has not surrendered to the Lord, their heart is deceitful and wicked:
Jeremiah 17:9 King James Version (KJV)
9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?
Test a person according to what they say, do and most importantly whether they are bearing good fruit:
Jeremiah 17:10 King James Version (KJV)
10 I the Lord search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.
