What is hell like? – The attributes of hell
Many Christians don’t fully understand what hell is like according to the Bible. I didn’t realise how bad it was until I watched Bill Wiese’s video and researched the verses he provided:
There is no water in hell. Why? Because water comes from heaven:
Deuteronomy 11:11 King James Version (KJV)
11 But the land, whither ye go to possess it, is a land of hills and valleys, and drinketh water of the rain of heaven:
Hell is parch dry, as the story of Lazarus explains.
Luke 16:24 King James Version (KJV)
24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.
It’s unimaginably hot and full of torment:
Revelation 14:10 King James Version (KJV)
10 The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:
Brimstone is another word for sulphur. Hell is full of fire and pungent sulfur. Pretty much similar to the inside of an active volcano.
Proverbs 7:27 King James Version (KJV)
Her house is the way to hell, going down to the chambers of death.
Hell is made up of chambers. Bill Wiese (see video below) explains that a person will be in a chamber on their own. You won’t see another human, just demons.
Psalm 88:4 King James Version (KJV)
4 I am counted with them that go down into the pit: I am as a man that hath no strength:
People become very weak. Why? This verse explains:
Acts 17:28 King James Version (KJV)
28 For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.
In hell, people will barely be able to move because God isn’t there.
2 Peter 2:4 King James Version (KJV)
For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;
Hell is a dark place where there is no light.
Psalm 116:3 King James Version (KJV)
3 The sorrows of death compassed me, and the pains of hell gat hold upon me: I found trouble and sorrow.
Hell is a painful place.
Matthew 25:30 King James Version (KJV)
30 And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
According to Bill, it’s not so much weeping as constant terrible wailing from untold multitudes.
Mark 9:44 King James Version (KJV)
44 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.
There are worms that crawl over everyone that don’t die.
Hell (also called sheol) is a place of punishment |

The duration and intensity of the hell experience varies according to one’s sins. Matthew 11:23-24 King James Version (KJV) 23 And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted unto heaven, shalt be brought down to hell: for if the mighty works, which have been done in thee, had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day. 24 But I say unto you, That it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for thee. And here also: Revelation 18:5-6 King James Version (KJV) 5 For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities. 6 Reward her even as she rewarded you, and double unto her double according to her works: in the cup which she hath filled fill to her double. |
The lake of fire is a place of eternal destruction |

Revelation refers to a lake of fire where hell itself is thrown into. Revelation 20:13-15 King James Version (KJV) 13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. 14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. Hell and death itself is cast into the lake of fire, implying the destruction of both. The lake of fire is also called the second death because human souls are destroyed in the lake of fire. In contrast, the devil, the false prophet and the beast are tormented forever in the lake of fire. Revelation 20:10 King James Version (KJV) And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever. |

Hell is a place where people are punished for their sins according to the seriousness of those sins. If people sinned less seriously in Jesus’ opinion, they are punished less. The more serious the sin, the longer the person is punished and with greater intensity. In both cases, the soul is then permanently destroyed in the lake of fire. This implies that souls want to be destroyed sooner in the second death because the torment of the first hell is extremely intolerable. Logically, this makes a lot of sense. Why? A righteous God must punish people according to the severity of their sins. Secondly, because God is a God of order, he must wipe out lawlessness from the universe at some point. It’s logically consistent with the concept of a just and righteous God. Please don’t even consider going to hell. It wasn’t designed for human souls. Confess your sins to God with great humbleness and he will be faithful and just to forgive you and cleanse you from all unrighteousness: This is the fastest way I know for you to be saved. Godbless. |
Who is destroyed in the lake of fire? |

The Bible is very specific about this: Revelation 21:8 King James Version (KJV) But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death. If we have fear, we’re not going to make it. If we tell lies, that’s a big problem. If we are unbelieving in God, that’s another major issue. If we idolise anyone or anything above God, we’ll be destroyed. |

[…] Now stop being angry. Carefully consider the fact that the person who hurt us is probably going to hell where the flames do not quench and the worms do not die (what hell is like): […]
