The demon says it is easy to manipulate people through their feelings and making them think they want something.  Therefore, guard ourselves against feelings.  Stand on the word of God instead of going by feelings or what some may call “discernment”.  The word of God provides tests for every kind of situation, for it is the discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

¹² For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Satan will dangle a carrot in front of us to tempt us. This is what he did to Jesus and it’s exactly what he is going to do to us also.  Alternatively, satan will try to put fear into us.

Loving Jesus is not about feelings. It is about keeping his commandments:
