If we are not feeling grateful towards Jesus Christ, we have hidden pride. This is perhaps the most dangerous kind of pride because it is a blindspot that cannot be easily removed:
Jeremiah 17:10 King James Version (KJV)
10 I the Lord search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.
God gives according to the fruit of our doings. Ungratefulness is a bad fruit and indicates there is something wrong with our ways and our heart. God is not a liar and he doesn’t make mistakes. If you have unforgiveness and ungratefulness, something is very wrong. Repent, which is to turn away immediately. Ask God for forgiveness and forgive those that trespass against you, lest this fruit fester into spiritual death.
We are never justified in feeling sorry for ourselves. Never, ever, never. See Job chapter 38 to 40. We are servants and slaves. We have been bought at a price. If you can’t feel God, ask Brother Lawrence for the correct attitude. If you have no pride, you are always thankful to the Lord no matter your circumstance. Why? Because your name is written in the book of life.
